I am a former (retired) Grade 1 bagpiper competing in both the Western and Eastern Pipe Band Associations, a Scottish Smallpipe player, and banjoist who has performed throughout New England. A 50 year musical career and a bagpiper for over 30 years, I have performed at over 300 weddings, funerals, outdoor and indoor events, including several regional and county fairs. I give talks to schools about the instruments I play and build, and the lifelong satisfaction of a career in any kind of music.
Specializing in the Piobaireachd (Peabrock), or classic music of the pipes, I can also compose a special tune for your event. I have also performed throughout Maine as a Minstrel/fretless banjo player, luthier and living history artist. In addition to playing music, I compose, teach, publish instructional books for musicians, and sell instruments for those looking to buy bagpipes and banjos. My fees for any piping have not changed in 20 years, and it will stay that way. Talks, indoor events and concerts are always free of charge.
Remember that, with piping, it is far better to have the audience leave wanting more than hearing too much. Also, the GHB or Great Highland Bagpipes, is primarily an outdoor instrument and can be overwhelming to listeners indoors for small venues..........And for 'fun' I sing songs and tell stories of (and in) the Pennsylvania Dutch, which I am proud to be.
